Attention Wolfgirls and Vampgirls! Contests and Awards!

I'm not in the wolfgirl loop as much as I used to be, but I do hear a bit here and there when I need a good wolf fix. I was on twitter today and noticed two things I thought I'd share here.

1. A very cool contest for everyone!

No Boundaries

This is straight from the host's (Credoroza) website:
No boundaries: a Leah Clearwater & Vampire love affair contest.
A unique contest bridging the gap between wolf and vampire lovers a like.
Open yourself up to New Boundaries and write a short story or create a graphic piece.

This contest is also hosted by SheWolfAwards.

I love a good contest with a good prompt. But you what I love more than that? A contest that brings wolves and vamps together. I hate the divide. Hate it. Can't we all just get along? Now we can! Write for this contest or create something pretty for it! I may join you too!

2. Jacob Black N Pack Awards are back!

Jacob Black N Pack Awards

Noms are being accepted through July 1st. Nom, vote, and read. I always get great recs through this awards site. It keeps me abreast of what's awesome in wolf fic!

Awards Season

Apparently, it's awards season 'round the twific community. In a matter of a few days I was made aware that both Masen Days and Take What You Want are up for some awards. Woohoo! So fun.

Masen Days
Masen, himself, is up for the award of Best Edward on the Eclipse Awards. And holy cow, what an honor that is. I know that my favorite Edwards are very special to me, so thanks to those you who nominated him. You can click on the link if you so choose to vote for him. There are some other amazing authors up for awards as well, including Abstract Way, Rochelle Allison, Sweet Lolapop, etc, so spread your votes around. Voting is open until May 19, but you should vote today!

This manip was made by mysty1234, and I've asked her for her permission to claim it as Masen on my blog because . . . hello! It's Masen. She was thrilled, so yay! A Special thanks to jadapattinson for pointing it out to me.

In honor of this nomination I am attempting to write a Masen Days outtake. I hope to have it ready to post on Monday. I started today and hope to finish soon. I'm fic'ing this pic . . .

Take What You Want
Take What you Want is currently up for two awards from two different sites. Dirtyflirtward's Bella is up for Best Bella in the Eclipse Awards. Again, voting ends May 19th. And Take What You Want on the whole is up for the Joke Book Award (For the best humor story which has you crying with laughter.) on  The iSparkle Awards. Click on the link to vote, and do so by May 11th. There are loads of other categories boasting great authors and stories that need your vote as well.

This gif is posted for three reasons: 1. It makes me think of Dirtyflirtward and his Bella. 2. I'm totally addicted to Friday Night Lights right now (Go Riggins! Go Landry! He's my fave!). 3. I'm currently working on a one-shot for Jadapattinson's Fic This Gif contest. It is anonymous, so, no, I cannot tell you which gif I used. Sorry. But I can tell you there are so many fun gifs that have inspired me. There are also many that make me want to wash my hands. Oh dear. View this site with caution. That is all.

And now some ridiculous pics that remind me of the stupidity that is Dirtyflirtward and Bella's relationship. Enjoy!

Masen Days

Masen Days was a one shot written for the Boys on Boards Anonymous Contest, and it won 3rd Place! Yay me and my team: _ss77_, LuvinJ, Perrymaxed, Mac_214! Now it is a multi-chaptered fic, and it is live!

Masen Days by Purelyamuse

A brief excerpt from Masen Days Chapter 1: The Day I Meet Masen

I say, "Hi."

He says nothing in response – just shakes his head to get the sweaty strands out of his eyes – which I think are the color of the sea – but I can't be sure because the hair curves back over his face a second later. My eyes sweep over his features, landing on a leather choker around his neck. It's plain but suits him.

"I'm not in any hurry. Feel free to stay awhile."

He turns and skates away, meeting up with the other guys under the bridge and riding the curves of the concrete.

I try to pay attention to the other boys, who show off, doing aerials as if gravity doesn't exist, but I can't keep my eyes off Masen. It's really impressive the way his body moves on such a silly thing as a piece of wood attached to some wheels. I wonder how long he's been a skater and want to ask. I'm not sure if I'll be brave enough, though. Besides, Angela is right: he's quiet.

Masen skates closer after awhile, this time jumping from the top of the stairs, landing back onto his board. I'm so scared for him, but I shouldn't be. He's amazing at this.

"Ready?" he asks. I nod, and he grabs his ratty backpack from a heap on the concrete, swinging it over his shoulder. I don't want him to know I'm ogling the muscles in his arms when he does, so I fuss with my hair, stealing a pencil from someone's bag to twist my hair into a bun. It's too hot with it down anyway. Without a word, he walks away, skateboard in hand. Guess that's my cue – I follow, falling into step beside him.

The silence is deafening and lasts for almost the entire trip home. I stumble due to my discomfort when he says, "Like your Vans."

"Thanks." I look down at my light blue shoes. "I've had them for a few years. They're comfy."

He stops at the end of the sidewalk and kicks up his white and black checkered shoe, saying, "One year. Had to buy new ones 'cause my feet got too big."

"Sounds like a personal problem," I say, then mutter, "but not a bad one to have." I can't believe I just said that.

Desperate to recover I say, "I mean, 'cause you know what they say about men with big feet . . ." I suck at first impressions.

He chuckles quietly and glances my way while running his hand through his hair, pushing it back. His eyes are so bright, and I was right – sea green. He smiles and, wow, it's gorgeous. Come to think of it, he's gorgeous. It's really the first time I've seen him still, and I like still Masen.

I smile in return, and he looks away, almost as though he's ashamed. Was he upset about my crude comment? No, couldn't be. He laughed.

"I'm on Brooks, down this way," he says.

"Okay. See ya in school?"

"Yeah, sure." He looks down at his feet like they're fascinating and hops on his board, leaving me on the corner. I walk myself the rest of the way home.

Give Me Ten (or Three - awards, that is)

I participated in the Passionate About Paul contest  a little while ago and failed to report back to you. You probably just assumed my geeky band story was overlooked and overshadowed by smut-filled Paul and Bella goodness, but you'd be wrong! My story actually placed, and it placed well. Give Me Ten won first place for overall-best story by a public vote. It also won two of four Judge's Pick awards. The judges that chose my story as their favorite had some nice things to say about it. You can read their words below.

Give Me Ten has become a favorite of mine as well as some of my readers. I hope when inspiratoon hits I can expand a bit with some drabbles here and there. If you'd like to read them someday please put me on Author Alert. Thanks! Purely

Give Me Ten by purelyamuse
Admittedly, one of the biggest reasons I decided on "Give Me Ten" was for the memories it provoked of my own days back in the marching band in high school. Bella, who is a confident, little spit-fire, wants nothing more than to be considered one of the guys in the drum line. The drum line's section leader, Paul, is an obnoxious, but sexy asshole who constantly tries to put Bella in her place. When these two get into an argument, you can rest assure that the sparks will fly. This one-shot is the perfect example that all fic doesn't have to contain over-the-top smut to still provide a little heat.

Give Me Ten by purelyamuse
I wasn't a band kid in high school, but if there was anyone who looked liked Paul in the drum line, you could bet your ass I'd try to learn an instrument just to be in the same room with a guy like that. I was taken in by the world of PurelyAMuse's story called Give Me Ten. You see the everyday life of the Bella, one of only two girls on the male-dominated drum line, and how she deals with her overbearing, tyrant of a section leader named Paul. The immediate love/hate relationship between Bella and Paul is evident, and PurelyAMuse brings you along for the drama-filled ride. The entire story has a sexual tension that is palpable, leaving the reader panting and waiting for how it will be resolved. And the kicker? There's not a lemon at all in this one shot. (But there's plenty of UST, believe me.) It's just a damn good story. Period.

Fanfic My Fanfic Win!

Remember this contest I entered a while ago on a whim? I placed . . . twice! How insane is that? I won 2nd place Judges' Choice for No good Will based on Scotch, Gin and the New Girl and tied for 3rd place in the Popular Vote for Fuck My Life Fig Newtons based on Wide Awake. I am completely shocked. I keep saying it over and over again, "But I don't even write Edward." It's unbelievable. And that Ed/Bella plot bunny that's been following me around may just have to come to fruition. This is insane.

Thanks to the judges, everyone who read and voted, and for AltheaJams and BellaFlan for hosting the contest to begin with. It was so much fun writing for these stories. You can access my stories on the Fanfic My Fanfic page, but I hope to post them on my own profile once FFn.net stops being a turd. The rest of the results for the contest can be found here. Congrats to everyone who was brave enough to write for the contest!

Favorite Blackwater

I cannot even begin to describe how stupid I looked when I received a twitter notice that I won this award. My mouth was agape, and I'm pretty sure I scratched my head. I don't get it. How is it that the story I worked the least on and care the least about won an award? Maybe because there are no nerves involved. Maybe because people like to read ridiculous stories about Jacob. Or maybe it's because there are not many Blackwater stories to choose from. I'm gonna go with the latter. I'm truly flattered that I was nominated and that I won, but please for the love of Pete read something of mine that's actually worth reading like Run with Me. Thanks, Purely

And now for your entertainment . . . an excerpt of this nonsense  from Chapter 3. . .

“I’m turning 18 next Friday.”

“Yuh-huh, you said,” she responded, taking a bite out of her microwaved dinner. She was watching one of her TV shows and not paying a lick of attention to me. It was getting annoying, but I knew if I said anything about it, she’d cut me off from her lips that night. So, I just suffered through it.

“Can you at least pretend to care?” I said, trying to make a joke out of it. Yeah, joking would work. It worked better than trying to actually say something serious to her. We never quite got the hang of actually talking to each other, which was a bit of a problem.

Leah pushed pause on her DVR and turned to face me on the couch. “Oh, sweetie, poopsie, honey pie, poopoo head. I‘m so happy dappy that you’ll be 18. We should have a weally fun party. Don’t you think so, baby pie, sugar doodle, munchie bunchie?”

“You’re such a…”

“Queen?” she guessed, batting her eyelashes at me.

“Exactly. Seriously, it’s my birthday and I was hoping for something special for my birthday. From you.” The addition was not subtle. Oh well.

“Like what? New shorts? ‘Cause you need some. I can see your junk all the time when you walk around in these shabby things.”

“No, I wasn’t thinking shorts. I was thinking more along the lines of something for you and me.” I didn’t mean to, but I drew my bottom lip into my mouth and probably made hungry eyes at Leah. Woops.

“Like sex?” she asked bluntly.

“Er . . .”

“You can’t even say it. How will you do it?”

“I think I’ll be fine,” I mumbled.

“No you won’t. You won’t even be able to talk dirty to me.”

“You don’t want me to talk dirty to you. The last time I called your boob a ti-”

“Don’t say it. I hate that word. But the point is if I wanted you to, you couldn’t. You’re still a baby.”

“Uh, the massive knob in pants that comes to the party every night tells a different story.”

“Well, there will be no coming at your party. So just forget it. No wicked birthday for you.”

Snowed In - Awards

Snowed In tied for 3rd place in the JBNP All I Want for Christmas Is contest. Hooray! I was really surprised because my story is not happy go lucky and has zero smut. It's also pretty melancholy, but apparently people liked it. So, yay! Also, my good friend LuvinJ won 1st place for her story, A Twilight Christmas Carol. Way to go LuvinJ. Yay for us!

Here's my hilarious banner for the award...
