Edward is a 27-year-old alcoholic/addict struggling with his recovery. Bella is a 23-year-old who's moved back home after college. This fic chronicles how they meet, fall in love, and struggle with the complexities of their relationship. Not nearly as maudlin as it sounds (I hope).
This story is dark and light simultaneously making it a very captivating read.
The hardest chapter of this whole story is chapter one - I assure you. Edward is absolutely disgusting and his behavior is despicable. So much so, that I wondered after chapter one if I even wanted to read it. But, I'm so glad I kept going.
Bella's nonjudgemental attitude and Edward's hesitancy to be with Bella (due to his issues) guides the story. This story spans years - 5 I think - following their relationship and it's growth or lack thereof.
Getting inside the head of an addict was very interesting. I really felt for this Edward. He wanted so badly to be normal, to love, to live but his lifestyle (and background) kept him from doing so. While Edward's journey is the basis of this story, Bella grows up quite a bit too and learns about life and love along the way through various other relationships.
The author writes her side characters well too. I particularly was fond of Jasper in this story as well as Seth, who plays a small role. Jacob plays a part too, particularly in Bella's life. He is written respectfully and has a good run with Bella. This story is safe for Team Jacob.
This story contains one of my favorite lines ever written in fanfiction. I could not stop laughing after I read it. While trying to get Bella to dance, a hilarious Jacob (while flailing about showing her his moves) says to her, "I'm lord of the motherfucking dance."

Every year Bella waits for the 'Pay Checks' to roll into her sleepy river town and every year Edward's hers, just for the summer. AH, AU, OOC, B/E
This is the most realistic fic I've read. The people are so raw, so real. I know people like this. I've met Charlie and Edward and Jacob and Bella. I don't know how the author did it, but she chronicled Bella's life (in BPOV) from age 11-23ish and did so perfectly. The words of 13 yo Bella are just as spot on as hormonal 17 yo Bella. The struggle that Bella goes through is so what every teenage girl goes through.
Edward'd family visits The Swan's marina in AZ every summer for vacation and this fic follows her relationship with Edward (his family and her own as well). Each year their lives change yet they stay the same - friends, then more than friends, then friends again. It's all a very natural progression that spans 17 years.
The sexual nature of this story is so realistic. There's nothing exaggerated about it - it's real and so are Bella's thoughts as she goes through her ups and downs as she's coming of age with Edward and the other boys in her life.
I loved this story from start to finish and re-read it immediately after I was done. Yeah, it was that good.
Warning to Team Jacob - Jake is not the most amazing person in this story, so if that bothers you you may want to just skip out on this one. Though, I will say I found his arrogance and immature humor adorable at times. But, I generally love Jake no matter what.

While Edward drags her around the world, barely keeping a step ahead of his frantic family, Bella battles the monster for possession of the gentler vampire inside her captor. EPOV.
This fic is dark. This fic is gruesome. This fic is awesome.
The author ran with the idea that Edward couldn't resist Bella's blood. He attacks and kidnaps her and the story unfolds from there. Bella and Edward develop a relationship which is shady (at best) in the beginning, although changes throughout the story. It's a very unique take on canon Edward. This story is so original. It has a medical (or clinical) element to it that I found fascinating. The reader truly dives into what Bella's blood does to Edward. The story is an adventure, suspenseful, romantic and unique. It's dark themes don't overshadow the love story. If you like conflicted Edward, you will love this story.
This story completely ignores Jacob so it's safe for everyone.

I didn't even realize anyone else out there was a bigamist, but I found her, my soul mate Live720. Don't tell her, I'm obsessed. This story is hands down my favorite fanfiction piece. Above Coming Full Circle, In Pursuit of Normalcy, and My Yes, My No. It is seriously that good. In fact I would recommend you read it over my own story. That's how much I loved it.
The writing is superb, the characters are so in character and Edward and Jacob are both to die for. It is very innocent: a whopping three swear words and two love scenes that are very tastefully written but still very moving. The author creates a new character that would rival any of Stephenie Meyers creations.
Okay, here's the gist, Bella never jumps, surprise, surprise...so Bella has time to fall for Jacob. She meets a new character who gets in the way, and then chaos ensues and Edward returns. The fight is on. Bella loves two men. Her struggle is so believable and everyone is hurting. It's sooooo good. I cried during several of these chapters and I laughed a lot too. The pacing makes the story believable and you know how important that is to me. Love takes time. This story is so worth the read I wish you would stop reading this and start reading it. Seriously, go now! I'm rambling!
