I love Bratty-Vamp. Everything that I've read of hers has been phenomenal and this story, In Vain, is no different. Most of Bratty-Vamp's stories are lighthearted love stories, but every now and then she writes something a bit edgier, like Click and Strum and now, In Vain.
In Vain's Edward is a vampire. He is drawn to Bella inexplicably, and the connection between the two saved her life as a toddler as well as her mother's. Just like in a classic fairy tale, in exchange for remaining alive, Bella is promised to someone evil for his evil purposes. Sounds ookey, right? Well, you forget that the evil man, Aro, obtains Bella for his "son's" use. His son is none other than Edward. Wo ho ho! Well that changes things, right?
Bella, only 18, has no clue what's going on. She's trapped in Edward's home without any access to her outside life or any outside life, for that matter. Little by little she gets to know Edward, and he is not a shoulder to cry on. Instead he's a yelling, controlling, seductive vampire. While Bella is ultimately naive and sweet, she meets Edward punch for punch, eventually, creating a delicious dynamic between the two.
Read In Vain to discover if Bella and Edward can get along, if Aro can keep his fangs to himself, and if Bella and Edward can have a happily ever after even though neither of them wanted this to begin with. Read In Vain. I promise you'll love this Vampward!
